Storyboard Review
Our storyboard clearly represents what we wished to portray in our preliminary task. It is split into 16 easy to follow frames, that show the proxemics of the characters and type of shot needed very well. The use of black to outline the boxes and images inside means it is easy to see and follow. Our descriptions were very helpful when filming as we thought about sound, movement and shot type. However, in the description and the drawings we could have focused more on the movement as it was difficult to follow when it came to filming, Also, we could have included more depth and detail in the backgrounds of our drawings so the setting would have been clearer and made it easier for us when filming. Overall, I think our storyboard was effective in creating a basic and successful plan for our preliminary task even if more detail would have been helpful to us later on.
Preliminary Task Review
Our preliminary task included everything that was laid out in the specification and more. We had a shot reverse shot, match on action, close ups, establishing shots and even a canted shot which showed our various media skills. We successfully followed the 180 degree rule during filming as well. All of this was done by successfully following our storyboard. Our continuity editing was very effective and our shots were clean and well planned which helped the verisimilitude. However, we could have improved the flow of our piece. This could have been done by filming more carefully and more steadily, possibly with better equipment or more practice. We could have all used more extensive sound to add more tension to the film and therefore make it more effective. Overall, I think we made a successful preliminary task.
